OVERVIEW
The Fundraising Department of Public Outreach has been managed almost exclusively by John Finlay since the start of the company. At the beginning of this year John moved into the role of Executive Director with the mandate to create a management team to run the company.
The position of Fundraising Director is a new position that oversees the day to day fundraising operations in Canada, including Door, Street, Indoor Locations and Phone. This is a wonderful opportunity for the individual who is organized and self-directed, likes to travel, and who has successfully demonstrated their ability to manage fundraising response, volume, admin efficiency as well as staff development and morale. As a director the ideal candidate has an intuitive understanding of analysis, goal setting and inspiring and managing the support of others to achieve those goals for the continued success of the company.
The Fundraising Director is responsible for the successful completion of all client contracts which includes ensuring appropriate staffing (recruiting, training, response management) office volume planning across the country (assigning and/or removing fundraising hours). It is the Director’s responsibility to strategically grow or shrink operations and/or expand or retreat from new markets. Support includes the team of senior Fundraising Managers, Regional Coaches, Recruiting, Permits& Licenses, and the other departmental Directors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing and directing national operations staff to provide appropriate support to fundraising operations and fundraising staff across Canada;
- Planning client volume in partnership with client services director, sales director, finance director and fundraising managers; in order to maximize client charity satisfaction and ensure that Public Outreach remains profitable;
- Co-ordinating and approving travel within the fundraising department;
- Overseeing staff recruitment and training at all levels of the department from Fundraising Trainees to senior Fundraising Managers;
- Empowering and inspiring leaders, motivating staff and promoting a nurturing and positive atmosphere within all areas of Public Outreach’s inner workings;
- Working with the senior management team of Public Outreach to build a organization that is an internationally competitive fundraising machine while at the same time promoting the values of social change and building a vibrant triple bottom-line, mission- driven company.
- Developing and maintaining systems that ensure that the organization’s values are accurately represented to hundreds of fundraising staff in at least ten fundraising offices nationally. Currently this is (kind of) accomplished through a co-ordinated bi-annual office visit schedule.
